Our brand name Kam-Moon is a word derived from Arabic pronunciation of the herb cumin. Cumin, a dried spice found within the seeds of the Cuminum cyminum plant is one of the most essential spices in the mediterranean kitchen.
Promoting digestion and reducing food-borne infections is just some of the many benefits of Kam-Moon. Modern research has also revealed some new benefits, such as promoting weight loss and improving blood sugar control and cholesterol.
Cumin was so important back then it was recognized as a symbol of love and loyalty during the Middle Ages in Europe, and we are here to bring back those values and provide our guests with delicious recipes and a brand new experience like never before.
Our bread is baked fresh daily. Similar to pita, but made with whole wheat flour. The Egyptian bread is traditionally baked in Cairo’s bustling markets. In modern Egypt, the government subsidizes bread as an aid for the Egyptian urban working classes. Our freshly baked pita bread is considered an essential part of the Egyptian diet, that is why it is called “Eish”. The word Eish itself has the meaning “to live, be alive”, which proves the centrality of bread to Egyptian life.
